“The Inefficiency Of Poetry”
This
despicable
world is spinning
out of control
there’s not
a poet alive
who can do
a thing about it
We keep
orchestrating
these little word’s
thinking it’s gonna
make a difference
The system won
all you need is love
tell that to
John Lennon
if you believe
in the second
amendment
Still I waste
my time
with this
dying art form
ripping holes
in my flesh
to expose this
sentimental blood
There’s a point
at the bottom
of this pen
I can’t say
the same
for this
inefficient poem
Michael Marrotti is an author from Pittsburgh using words instead of violence to mitigate the suffering of life in a callous world of redundancy. His primary goal is to help other people. He considers poetry to be a form of philanthropy. When he’s not writing, he’s volunteering at the Light Of Life homeless shelter on a weekly basis. If you appreciate the man’s work, please check out his blog:www.thoughtsofapoeticmind.blogspot.com for his latest poetry and short stories.

Dying too are books, good novels, and, as you say, poetry. As Robinson Jeffers wrote, if you know a poet, cling to him or her, they are the best we will ever get…

Some use words
screaming expletives
others shields
of public accomplishment
raining sweat
raining saliva
raining sperm
pouring the doodads
of life’s little dramas
into buttercups
in the fields of hogwash
wherever they go
Just endeavor
Just endure
the future is only worse
for the depressive
monunuments
of men moaning
injustice as a leap
of faith
a jump into sawdust
and rough rubble
Forevermore
they will suffer this
self made fate—-
